MSc Psychology in progress · Doctoral aspirant in Psychology of Religion · The long gap between degrees was not a detour — it was the field.
Insurance's core product is peace of mind. Psychology holds the key to whether people will voluntarily seek that protection — and whether institutions will grant it equitably. Both fields share an underlying architecture: how do human beings manage uncertainty, assign value, and calibrate trust?
The UNICAF scholarship to LJMU enabled the formal transition. But the real preparation was two decades of observing how people and institutions actually behave under uncertainty — preparation that no classroom provides.
The research direction was not chosen arbitrarily. Twenty-two years as a Buddhist-identified professional inside Indonesian corporate institutions — Catholic-schooled, operating in a social environment where Dharmic minority identity is routinely misclassified and misread — generated a specific set of questions about recognition, legitimacy, and the psychology of how people see what is different from them.
Those questions became Beyond Tolerance.
A Chinese Indonesian who spent two decades working professionally in global companies: Indonesian is the native language; English is the daily working language of education and career — examinations, management, technical writing, cross-border client work. Basic conversational Mandarin is a household inheritance. A stint in Malaysia added functional Malay. The combination gives direct, unmediated access to the primary fieldwork population — Indonesian religious minorities — without translation dependency, and situates the researcher as an insider to the condition being studied.
